Diablo Immortal: 100 Legendary Crests & The Colossus Engine
Introduction
If you’ve ever dreamed about scoring top-tier gems in Diablo Immortal, you’ll know how thrilling (and frustrating) it can be. We decided to burn through 100 Legendary Crests in a single run, hoping to beat an earlier record of three five-star gem drops. Our main prize? The new Colossus Engine gem.
Why Colossus Engine Is So Popular
Colossus Engine isn’t just another fancy gem—it’s built for dominating in PvP. Once fitted and upgraded, it grants extra ways to unleash crowd control and extra effects on enemies. If you enjoy facing off against real challengers instead of fodder, this gem brings a big advantage in the arena.
The 100-Crest Challenge
We started with 80 non-sellable Legendary Crests and 20 eternal ones (which can be sold on the market if they drop five-star gems). Our quest was straightforward: spam Elder Rifts and hope the random number generator smiled upon us.
The first 50 crests only gave us one five-star gem—a serious letdown. Then, we pulled a three-star Seeping Bile, which helped ease the sting. Finally, the big moment arrived when Colossus Engine dropped at two out of five stars. We repeated the runs to use our remaining 50 crests and managed to snag three Colossus Engine gems in total, each at two out of five. On the bright side, we matched someone else’s three-gem streak—and even ended with a fourth five-star gem.
Drop Highlights
- One three-star Seeping Bile (good but not our main goal)
- Multiple two-star Colossus Engine gems
- A handful of two-star filler gems (fine for gem power)
Upgrading the Gem
Upgrading Colossus Engine requires spare copies and a set number of Polished Cores. We used one Polished Core to move our Colossus Engine from two-star to three-star quality. Sadly, we fell short of the materials needed to push it to four-star status. That final step needs seven more copies, which is no small feat.
RNG Realities
If this run proves anything, it’s that no one should expect a five-star gem every time. Dropping hundreds of crests can still yield few five-star results. Also, despite pouring plenty of time and money into the game, we still haven’t seen a coveted five-out-of-five gem.
For many players, it makes sense to manage expectations. If your luck mirrors ours, you’ll end up with a bunch of two-star gems and the occasional big drop. That’s just the reality of Diablo Immortal’s system.
Tips for Future Gem Hunters
- Run with Friends: Party play often spawns extras like treasure goblins. It’s more fun and sometimes more rewarding.
- Mix Eternals and Regular Crests: Selling a five-star gem on the market can offset some costs.
- Focus on Power You Actually Use: If you find Colossus Engine, decide which current gem to replace without dropping your overall rank.
- Keep Crafting Materials Handy: Use two-star gems for feeding your main gems and keep Polished Cores ready.
Final Thoughts
Our 100-crest marathon ended with a solid pull of four five-star gems in total. Three were Colossus Engine gems stuck at two-out-of-five stars, but they still offer a powerful PvP boost. Someday we may land that legendary five-out-of-five drop, but for now, these will do the job.
If you’re about to stock up on Legendary Crests or simply wondering if the Colossus Engine is worth it, know that drops can be scarce. Enjoy the chase, but stay grounded—you never know if that ultimate gem is just one run away or still hundreds of crests off.
