Diablo Immortal: NEW Update! Everything You NEED to Know (Inferno Difficulty Changes!)
Overview
The latest Diablo Immortal update shakes up progression with fresh gear ranks, new class essences, and a few quality-of-life tweaks. If you’ve been itching for more to chase, you’ll appreciate the boosted rank cap and the chance to secure extra stash space. Let’s explore everything you need to know and how it might affect your next farming run.
Gear Upgrades to Rank 25
Your green (primary) gear no longer caps at rank 20. You can now push each piece up to rank 25, granting new room for growth. However, this upgrade path isn’t cheap. Early reports suggest each increase from rank 20 costs more than 1,000 crystals and about 1,400+ scrap materials, with a modest +10 combat rating gain per level.
Crystals drop mainly in Challenge Rifts, so you’ll need to push higher tiers consistently to gather enough for all eight gear slots. It’s a serious marathon that may take months of dedicated play, especially if you’re more casual.
Combat Rating Increase
- +10 Combat Rating per gear rank (after rank 20)
- Costs scale with each rank (1,300+ crystals, 1,400+ scraps, etc.)
- Total potential upgrade is +80 Combat Rating per rank across all gear slots
New Class Essences
If you enjoy experimenting with different builds, fresh class essences have arrived. These let you try out new playstyles or refine your favorite setups. Keep in mind, if you switch between classes often, you’ll need to farm multiple sets of essences, giving you another goal to pursue.
Authenticator & Extra Stash Space
Securing your account through the BattleNet Authenticator now grants a free stash tab. This is a practical perk that makes hoarding extra gear and materials more manageable. If you pair it with the Boon of Plenty’s stash expansion, you’ll have even more room.
Events & New Battle Pass
Look for the Feast of the Valenti event, along with login and activity-based tasks that reward items like Legendary Crests or other resources. In addition, the next season’s Battle Pass is scheduled to roll out soon. Be sure to claim all pending battle points before the current one ends; otherwise, you risk losing out on leftover progress.
There’s also a two-time Experience event. You activate it for a 24-hour span, and it will expire whether you play or not. Pick a day when you’ll be active—maybe a Heliquary run or heavy dungeon grinding—to get the most out of it.
Legendary Gem Drop Rate Tweaks
Blizzard has adjusted the Legendary Gem pool so you can remove unwanted gems from your possible drops. Some older gems are excluded by default, though you can opt to add them back if you wish. This feature helps you aim for more relevant gems instead of wasting valuable Legendary Crests on less desirable outcomes.
Inferno Difficulty Changes
Inferno 5 difficulty requirements have been reduced slightly, now sitting around 44,765 Combat Rating. If you’re just shy of that level, you might still manage at a minor disadvantage. But it’s wise to equip higher-ranked gear or at least farm terror essences for the next big jump in gear rating when you hit Paragon 700.
Tip: Save Your Terror Essences
Try not to burn your terror essences too soon. Wait until you hit the new Paragon threshold (700) so you can craft gear that’s immediately relevant for Inferno 5. You might lose powerful secondary attributes when you switch items, but it’s often worth the sacrifice if it boosts your overall Combat Rating.
Parting Thoughts
This patch might not feel enormous, but it injects new ways to progress or experiment with builds. You’ll face a steeper gear-up grind than before, especially if you’re pushing to rank 25 on every item. Still, that’s part of what keeps Diablo Immortal rolling—there’s always another piece of gear to strengthen or another milestone to hit.
Whether you’re upgrading gear, completing seasonal events, or preparing for future class releases (the Druid is rumored for mid-year), you’ll find something to keep you busy. Good luck on the grind, and keep those crystals coming!
