Diablo Immortal: $600 Spending Spree - Gems, Rifts, and a New Boss!

TL;DR: A player named NightTime spent $600 on Diablo Immortal. He maxed out the Phantom Gallery, upgraded a key gem to its max level, used the Beacon’s Urge for faster Elder Rifts, and fought the new Vogmarik boss. We also learned about new game features, like familiars doing bounties, and had NightTime give us his opinion on the game's updates.

A Whale's Spending Spree: Setting the Stage

In this article, we follow NightTime, a regular player on our channel, as he spends $600 on Diablo Immortal. He wanted to show us how the new systems work for high-spending players. We see him max out the Phantom Gallery, run Elder Rifts with the Beacon's Urge, and get rewards from the new Gem Surge event. NightTime also shares his thoughts about recent game updates and the new boss.

Phantom Gallery and the Gem Surge

NightTime started his spending spree by buying everything in the Phantom Gallery. He was specifically looking to use the Sovereign Masterwork Gem Chest event. He told us this is the best way to get a five-out-of-five-star gem. He had waited five months to get one on the market, and this event allowed him to get one for less than half the usual price. He did say, though, that this is a good value only if you plan to spend about $400 to get all the rewards.

This spending also progressed the Gem Surge event. After getting 22 items, he upgraded his Roiling Consequence gem to five-out-of-five stars. He was excited about this upgrade, noting that it’s less frustrating than running many rifts without getting anything useful. This upgrade also meant he now has one of the best gems in the game, specifically for PvP.

Faster Rifts with Beacon's Urge

To make running rifts faster, NightTime used the Beacon's Urge item. This item creates a portal to an Elder Rift, enabling the Guardian Hunter rift affix. This feature guarantees an immediate encounter with the boss and avoids running through the entire level. NightTime said this saves a lot of time, helping him get to the gems he wanted quicker. This was an excellent quality-of-life change for people who want to maximize their play time.

NightTime's Thoughts on Game Updates

While running rifts, we asked NightTime for his opinion on the new game updates. He had two main issues. First, the new Battlegrounds screen was causing eye strain for some players. He also said the new Heliquary boss, Vogmarik the Tormentor, needs a lower combat rating because its current rating of 45,665 is too high. He wants more players to access this new boss.

Monk Power in PvP

NightTime then switched to his Monk and shared his current build. He explained that monks are now strong in PvP, thanks to new essences. He showed his gear with high damage, survivability, shields, and mobility using charge and dodge moves. He mentioned that his staff does a lot of damage, even without set gear, showing how powerful the Monk class is right now.

Farming Made Easier

NightTime likes the new familiar system, which allows familiars to run bounties for him, saving him time. He said he doesn't want to spend all his time farming, as he prefers PvP battles. He also talked about how the Gem Surge event benefits all kinds of players. Even free-to-play players can easily upgrade their two-of-five star gems to three-of-five, which is a significant value. He also said the event is valuable for "whales," as it's a cheaper way of upgrading gems.

New Content and Engine Updates

From notes in the Chinese version of the game, we learned about a Hearthstone crossover event and an auto battler feature. NightTime was disappointed we didn’t get it. He also mentioned the game’s recent visual update, speculating it could mean an engine upgrade that could allow for cooler things. He also stated there is currently a boosted drop rate for five-star legendary gems in the game.

There were, however, some issues. The bosses in Beacon's Urge rifts sometimes don't spawn at all or are too far away from the player, which can cause issues for people trying to progress. He also mentioned that sometimes AFK farmers get the boss without doing anything.

Gem Power, Wings, and Boss Spawns

NightTime's favorite gems are Wulfheort, Roiling Consequence, and Blood-Soaked Jade. He also mentioned he doesn't care much for Bottled Hope. He mentioned he was lazy about gem power but had a ton of it sitting in old gems and that he needed to upgrade his wings. He does not want to farm for it but use the familiar system. Lastly, he mentioned issues with some zones like the Southern Dreadlands which have bad boss spawns but hopes they are now fixed.

Vogmarik the Tormentor: A New Challenge

Finally, we tried the new Heliquary boss, Vogmarik. This boss is unlocked after completing Inferno V difficulty. NightTime explained the different phases. He described a quick kill mechanic in phase two and a space invaders-style mechanic in phase three. He stated that he has run this boss 40-50 times for other players and it still requires some focus. He said this boss is fun and well-made, but its combat rating is too high, making it difficult to access.

  • Phase 1: Spikes spawn in a set location that you must run away from.
  • Phase 2: The boss splits into two, and you must kill them both quickly to avoid a wipe.
  • Phase 3: You must avoid the walls and the projectiles that are shot at you.

Final Thoughts

NightTime wants players to know he’s available on the OCE server to chat if someone wants a friend or needs help. We want to thank him for his time, for sharing his insights into the game, and for showing us his high-level gameplay!
